This activity is designed to provide the primary care provider with practical clinical information on the recognition and evaluation of specific pediatric subspecialty disorders seen frequently in primary care office settings.

Learning Objectives

Upon Completion of this activity, the attendee should be able to:

  • Describe the types of human trafficking and potential risk factors 
  • Review statistics and laws related to human trafficking. 
  • Recognize individual and environmental indicators of trafficking 
  • Describe how to screen individuals using a trauma informed approach 
  • Describe how to care for victims using multidisciplinary approach and community resources 
  • Discuss exercise physiology 
  • Explain Indications/contra-indications for exercise testing 
  • Discuss the role of exercise testing for sports clearance 
  • Recognize the common signs and symptoms of SLE in the pediatric population 
  • Discuss additional health maintenance that a patient with pediatric SLE requires 
  • Identify when autoantibody testing is indicated in the initial evaluation of a possible rheumatologic condition 
  • Review Neonatal Jaundice highlighting the Risk factors 
  • Discuss Neurotoxicity factors which increase the risk of kernicterus. 
  • Discuss the utility of Transcutaneous Bilirubin measurement
