This activity has developed and implemented an overarching educational program by The American College of Surgeons to help improve outcomes for patients who require minimally invasive, endoscopic and abdominal procedures.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

(1) Identify opportunities to improve surgical care
(2) Employ strategies to prevent intraoperative and postoperative complications and review ways to improve care and treat cancer patients
(3) Recognize high risk situations related to surgery care
(4) Construct patient safety initiatives based on information discussed in cases
