OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Identify the high-risk features of trauma patients that predict increased risk of peri-intubation mortality.

2. Identify the physiologic changes present with implementation of positive pressure ventilation.

3. Emphasize the importance of early blood administration for hypotensive bleeding trauma patients.

4. Identify safe induction anesthetics and doses for used with delayed sequence intubation.

5. Describe the steps of delayed sequence intubation.
