This lecture will address: 

  1. Review of the different types of CKD.
  2. The screening process and how to appropriately diagnose. 
  3. Timing and indications needed for referral to nephrology. 
  4. Awareness of treatment options as recommended by the newest guidelines.

Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Residents, Nurses and those in the care of the diabetic patient.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Examine patient and complete risk assessment based on early screening for DKD (including laboratory and imaging).

  • Recognize signs and symptoms before escalating, if needed, while following new evidence.

  • Apply best practice recommendations for diabetes documentation to maximize HCC coding.
