  • Accurately distinguish children who require referral to pediatric endocrinology from those who can be managed in primary care, using evidence-based criteria and current clinical guidelines.
  • Develop and implement an appropriate initial workup plan—including relevant history, examination findings, and laboratory testing—for common endocrine concerns such as abnormal growth, thyroid dysfunction, and early or delayed puberty.
  • Accurately identify and assess depressive symptoms in children and adolescents using validated screening tools and age-appropriate clinical criteria.
  • Develop and implement an evidence-based management plan for pediatric depression, including initial counseling, pharmacologic options when indicated, and appropriate referral and follow-up strategies.
  • Differentiate autoimmune encephalitis from common mimicking conditions (e.g., primary psychiatric disorders, viral encephalitis) using clinical clues and course of illness.
  • Outline an appropriate initial diagnostic approach, including first-line labs and indications for neuroimaging and EEG.
  • Identify early clinical signs of pediatric bleeding disorders.
  • Interpret basic laboratory results (CBC, PT, aPTT) to determine which patients require referral to pediatric hematology.
