OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Explain the work-up for a suspected aerodigestive foreign body including pertinent history, targeted physical exam, and necessary imaging to recognize common imaging findings of various aerodigestive foreign bodies.
2. Describe the steps for operative rigid bronchoscopy or esophagoscopy and recognize potential complications of aerodigestive foreign bodies.
3. Review treatment pathways for serious esophageal foreign bodies, including button batteries and caustic ingestion.
