2025 Clinician Corner - Renal artery stent thrombosis as a complication of percutaneous renal artery revascularization and stent placement
We present the case of a 46-year-old man with bilateral renal artery stenosis and a previous stent placed on the left renal artery who presented with a hypertensive emergency with flash pulmonary edema, and acute-on-chronic renal failure. A renal angiogram revealed extensive thrombosis and in-stent restenosis, which were treated with thrombectomy, angioplasty, and stenting. Our case highlights the importance of careful patient selection for renal artery stenting and close monitoring poststenting due to the risk of serious complications.

2025 BUMC Proceedings - Authentic leadership in clinical practice: barriers and benefits for female academic physician leaders
Background: Female academic physician leaders (FAPLs) encounter challenges in their leadership roles, including gendered leadership expectations or fear of judgment, impacting their ability to express authenticity. This study examined FAPLs’ perceptions of authentic leadership, factors shaping their leadership behaviors, and how authenticity influences their effectiveness as a leader. Methods: Using a convergent mixed-methods design, 40 FAPLs at Texas A&M University College of Medicine were invited to participate. Nine completed the Authentic Leadership Questionnaire (ALQ), and 10 participated in semi-structured interviews. 2025 Clinician Corner - Spinal cord reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome
We present the case of a 19-year-old woman who developed reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) with primarily posterior circulation infarcts, including a high cervical spinal cord infarct. RCVS is thought to be a transient vasospastic condition of the brain and to our knowledge has not been previously described to affect the spinal cord.
