Learning Objectives

OBJECTIVES:  Upon completion of this activity, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify and apply the components of “SPIKES” and how they facilitate breaking bad news or facilitating a difficult conversation.
  •  Identify and apply the components of “NURSE” as a means to address emotion during patient encounter.
  • Develop personalized scripts to navigate common challenging or difficult patient encounters/conversations in the rheumatology clinic.
