OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to - (1) Review the current paradigm of cardiovascular risk reduction in Type II Diabetes (DMII), (2) Describe the limitations of traditional DMII pharmacotherapy, (3) Review the proposed mechanism of action of SGLT2i and GLP1, (4) Highlight sentinel cardiovascular outcomes trials in SGTL2i and GLP1, (5) Describe a personalized cardiovascular risk reduction strategy in DMII.
