OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Summarize the association between high burden of care and employee health, (2) Identify key physiological indicators of burden and methods of assessment, (3) Describe the physiological and perceptual burden experienced by physical therapy staff when delivering gait training interventions during inpatient rehabilitation, and (4) Discuss therapeutic approaches to gait training that minimize therapist burden and maximize patient outcomes.
