This activity is designed to provide the primary care provider with practical clinical information on the recognition and evaluation of specific pediatric subspecialty disorders seen frequently in primary care office settings.

Learning Objectives

Upon Completion of this activity, the attendee should be able to:

  • Differentiate and classify the various types of headaches based on their characteristics and underlying causes.
  • Create a comprehensive treatment plan for the management of chronic headaches.
  • Apply knowledge of nutritional and lifestyle modifications to effectively counsel patients with hyperlipidemia.
  • Identify the various types of pharmacologic treatments for hyperlipidemia and the indications for each.
  • Analyze and distinguish between the various etiologies of short and tall stature.
  • Develop a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation plan for assessing a child with either slow or rapid growth patterns.
  • Recognize challenging patient interactions.
  • Utilize effective communication techniques to mitigate conflict.
