In 2017, more than 116,000 people are listed for organ transplant according to the United Network of Organ sharing. Approximately 350 patients can expect to receive a liver, kidney or pancreas transplant at BUMC at Dallas and Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center - Fort Worth which makes it imperative to provide ongoing education about outcomes, research and innovation in medical and surgical options for the medical professionals involved in organ disease management and transplantation. It is important for physicians to understand the latest guidelines in the criteria for eligible transplant patients to provide timely and appropriate care to the patient.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Describe the maternal and fetal risks of immunosuppressive agents in solid organ transplant during pregnancy and lactation, (2) Discuss the requirements of the REMS program related to mycophenolate products, including Cellcept and Myfortic and proposed process to ensure compliance at BUMC, (3) Discuss pharmacotherapeutic management of chronic conditions and acute pregnancy-related issues for a woman who has undergone solid organ transplant.
