OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1) Understand the rationale for use of CPAP as an initial mode of respiratory support in preterm infants with respiratory distress
2) Describe the desirable features and major components of CPAP systems
3) Discuss the benefits of Bubble CPAP as a preferred method to deliver positive airway pressure
4) Identify the practical aspects of nasal CPAP application and strategies for success.
