OBJECTIVES:   Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: Discuss and develop a better understanding of the physiologic derangement in the hemodynamic and coagulation systems in trauma patients; Review the evidence-based literature supporting our guidelines and identify the best practices/strategies for the care of injured patients through the discussion of surgery performance improvement case to ensure optimal patients outcomes; List ways to improve communication between physicians and nurses during trauma resuscitations; Define the risk factors in trauma patients for complications and how to incorporate these risks in decision making along with improving the technical knowledge of exposure techniques for trauma patients, specifically of the chest, abdomen and pelvis.
