National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and Vermont Oxford data in Neonatal-perinatal medicine suggest significant continuing morbidity and mortality of very low birth weight infants. Some of the common and challenging risk factors are nutrition, respiratory management, neuro developmental outcomes etc. Additionally, providing education in the neonatal- perinatal medicine is essential for patient care as well.
OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Review the physiology of hypotension in pulmonary hypertension.
2. Highlight case-based approach to systemic hypotension and pulmonary hypertension in preterm and term infants.
3. Describe advantages and disadvantages of individual therapies for systemic hypotension associated with pulmonary hypertension.
