National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and Vermont Oxford data in Neonatal-perinatal medicine suggest significant continuing morbidity and mortality of very low birth weight infants. Some of the common and challenging risk factors are nutrition, respiratory management, neuro developmental outcomes etc. Additionally, providing education in the neonatal- perinatal medicine is essential for patient care as well. 

OBJECTIVES:  Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

1) List the current controversies in RDS management

2) Describe new strategies for surfactant therapy to reduce risk of lung injury

3) Identify the pros and cons of several methods of respiratory support in newborn care
