OBJECTIVES:  Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:  (1) Review the classification and causes of primary MR as compared to secondary MR, (2) Discuss the indications for operative intervention for primary MR, (3) Discuss the role of percutaneous mitral valve edge to edge repair.
