OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Review the pathophysiology and updated diagnostic criteria of hepatorenal syndrome – acute kidney injury (HRS-AKI). (2) Evaluate the role and efficacy of terlipressin as the only FDA-approved treatment for HRS-AKI. (3) Discuss current management strategies, patient selection, treatment options, and risk-benefit concerns for patients with HRS-AKI.
