New medical knowledge and technology are advancing more quickly than most physicians can keep up with and utilize wisely.  This series of lectures allows physicians to improve techniques involved in the diagnosis and management of disease often seen by Internal Medicine physicians.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1.  Discuss the established frameworks used in medical ethics analysis, with a special emphasis on principle and virtue based clinical ethics evaluation. Special attention will be paid to the derivative values of positive and negative rights. 

2.  Utilize some historical case based analysis of examples in which one or more core ethical principles are subjugated and the justification behind this.

3.  Apply a combination of principle and virtue based analysis to the topic at hand, public health mandates in the setting of a respiratory viral pandemic.
