OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Discuss with a patient the phases of rehabilitation after amputation.

2. Recognize nociceptive and neuropathic pain, including phantom limb pain, in a patient after an amputation.

3. Discuss with a patient about phantom limb pain and start pharmacologic management.

4. Identify the importance of peer support for a patient after amputation.
