OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1.  Describe the clinical impact of surfactant therapy.

2.  Discuss the changes in indications for surfactant therapy in the context of less invasive respiratory support.

3.  Appraise and gain insight into new potential delivery methods and surfactant formulations.
