OBJECTIVES:  Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss regional neck anatomy and embryology as it relates to the major salivary glands.
  2. Explain the composition and functions of saliva and how this relates to the sialolithiasis.
  3. List examples of salivary gland infections and explain effective treatments for each.
