OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to - (1) Create a differential diagnosis for chronic abdominal pain, including common, but frequently overlooked diagnoses, (2) Describe the origin, fate, and symptoms produced by intestinal gas, (3) Explain the multiple causes of bloating and an algorithm for management.
