OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

1.  Review the innate and adaptive immune system functions, including inflammasomes
2.  Review and discuss some of the conditions caused by disruptions in the innate immune system
3.  Formulate and list a diagnostic plan for children with unexplained fever.
