OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Describe non atherogenic pathologies than can be encountered upon ultrasound imaging of carotid arteries
2. Review the clinical importance of and further imaging recommendations for carotid body tumors, fibromuscular dysplasia and dissections
3. Discuss clinical issues surrounding incidental findings during routine ultrasound imaging.
