OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Describe the pathophysiology of hyponatremia in patients with liver cirrhosis, (2) Identify the management approaches to the management of hyponatremia in this elect group of patients, (3) Explain the consequences of rapid sodium correction and the long term consequences of chronic hyponatremia.
