OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:  (1) Identify predictors of bleeding and thrombosis in patients with cirrhosis. (2) Describe the management of portal vein thrombosis in patients with cirrhosis and the use of anticoagulation in that population. (3) Discuss the perioperative management of hemostatic factors in patients undergoing and recovering from liver transplantation.
