New medical knowledge and technology are advancing more quickly than most physicians can keep up with and utilize wisely.  This series of lectures allows physicians to improve techniques involved in the diagnosis and management of disease often seen by Internal Medicine physicians.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1.   Discuss how social determinants include psycho-social and spiritual aspects.

2.   Recognize that social determinants require changing social relationships, not just supplying a non-medical physical resource.

3.  Explain how humility is appropriate when engaging the psycho-social-spiritual determinants of health as the conditions are inevitably complex requiring the provider and their system to itself be functional partnerships with the other organizations and networks in the community.
