OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Define bad news as it relates to medical professionals, (2) Answer the question; why is delivering bad news so difficult for physicians, medical providers, and residents, (3) Analyze a BUMC research study on how well-prepared clinicians at BUMC are to deliver bad news to patients and family members, and (4) Apply the ABCDE Model and Protocol on how to professionally deliver bad news.
