OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:  (1) Review anatomy of the mediastinum and its compartments, (2) Identify the most likely lesions that are likely to develop in each compartment, (3) Discuss the pathophysiology and management of pneumomediastinum.
