OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Identify the CMS SEP – 1 reporting requirements.
2. Review the requirements of the 3-hour and 6-hour bundle requirements for CMS SEP-1
3. Identify the impact of bundle compliance with outcomes (mortality, length of stay)
4. Recognize documentation requirements associated with SEP-1
5. Recognize Sepsis Order Sets which increase bundle compliance.

Surgical Site Infections (SSIs) in the context of colon and hysterectomy surgeries

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Apply increase understanding of SSI risk factors in colon and hysterectomy surgeries, foster discussions on modifiable factors, and propose interventions.
2. Discuss enhance knowledge of evidence-based preventive measures, preoperative preparation (including patient optimization and antibiotic prophylaxis), recommended lead measures, and the significance of postoperative surveillance for better patient outcomes.
