OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:(1) Review the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease and multiorgan failure, (2). Review the changes in sickle cell disease in pregnancy, and (3). Delineate ways to ameliorate ischemic and inflammatory complications in pregnancy.
