OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Differentiate advocacy and agency from activism, (2) Identify the role of the physician in patient advocacy, (3) Specify opportunities for advocacy locally, regionally and nationally, and focus on the role of the physiatrist in advocating for patients (and ourselves!).
