OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Describe the difference between high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and moderate-intensity steady-state (MISS) exercise programs (McGregor et al., 2023), (2) Analyze the effectiveness of low-volume HIIT compared with MISS exercise training for patients with Coronary Artery Disease (McGregor et al., 2023), (3) Describe the benefits of early cardiac rehabilitation in patient following heart valve surgery (Xue et al., 2022), and (4) Identify specific physical and mental measurements that were significantly improved or not improved between an intervention and control group in a randomized controlled trial (Xue et al., 2022).
