OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) ) Discuss the risks and benefits of the latest pharmacotherapies for obesity, and effectively counsel patients on available options for treatment, including the endoscopic and surgical bariatric procedures available, their basic risks and benefits for specific comorbidities, and when to refer patients, (2) Explain the latest findings and recommendations on lifestyle treatment, including diet and physical activity, (3) Incorporate evidence-based counseling techniques into obesity medicine treatment to identify patients’ needs and promote healthy lifestyle changes through shared-decision making.
