New medical knowledge and technology are advancing more quickly than most physicians can keep up with and utilize wisely.  This series of lectures to allow physicians to improve techniques involved in the diagnosis and management of disease often seen by Internal Medicine physicians.

OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1.   Identify the scale and risks of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in diabetes. 

2.   Discuss the evidence for glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists for treatment of CKD in persons with type 2 diabetes. 

3.   Describe the potential of GLP-1 receptor agonists to prevent or treat CKD in persons with or without diabetes.
