OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Identify the key patient characteristics and components of oncologic history important to understanding patient prognosis, (2) Describe how performance status can inform prognosis in patients with advanced cancer, and (3) Identify at least 2 risk factors in patients with advance cancer that may increase their risk for mortality.
