OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) List the major hospital and regulatory requirements after a death in a rehabilitation hospital, as well as articulate these requirements to learners, (2) Explain the emotions and the resulting behaviors among providers after a hospital death, as well as describe the shared responsibility to engage coworkers and learners, and (3) Describe the environment after a death in a hospital. In the context of this environment and in the presences of learners, list and analyze the challenges associated with meeting regulatory requirements when emotions are high.
