OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Assess if evidence of disparities exists in functional recovery and social health post-lower limb amputation (Clemens et al., 2024), (2) Analyze the validity of the methods of the study (Clemens et al., 2024), (3) Discuss the barriers that may prevent optimal recovery in certain socioeconomic groups, and how our knowledge of these barriers may impact the way we provide care (Clemens et al., 2024), (4) Discuss the different mechanisms of hip injuries mentioned in the article and the types of management (DME, surgical, ...) (Blount, 1956), and (5) Explain the physics behind how canes could help offload weight (Blount, 1956).
