OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Discuss the scientific evidence review of pediatric clinical presentations which are frequently experiencing over-testing in the urgent care/emergency department setting. (2) Encourage clinicians to rely on their clinical skills and avoid unnecessary tests and treatment for common pediatric acute care conditions. (3) Describe the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) guidelines on management of selected pediatric acute conditions.
