In Trauma PIPS/OPS, unexpected outcomes and complications are discussed to determine a cause and how it can be prevented from happening again in a future similar patient. The professional practice gap is determined by the issue being discussed by trying to understand the knowledge or competence or performance problem that underlies the unexpected outcome.

2. Discuss new/updated policies and guidelines for care of trauma patients.
