OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1.  Describe the clinical presentation and diagnostic challenges of a adolescent female with apparent polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and type 2 diabetes, highlighting the overlap with other conditions.
2.  Review the differential diagnosis for a young female with polycystic ovaries and type 2 diabetes, considering other endocrine disorders that can mimic these presentations.
3.  Analyze the role of growth hormone in glucose metabolism and how excess GH can contribute to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
