OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: 

1. Strategize evidence-based approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of emergency general surgery conditions.
2. Develop clinical decision-making strategies for complex and high-risk surgical patients.
3. Use strategies for early recognition of atypical presentations and surgical complications.
4. Incorporate perioperative management strategies that improve patient safety and outcomes.
5. Utilize multidisciplinary communication and care coordination strategies during emergency situations.
