OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Describe the analgesic effectiveness of buprenorphine for chronic non-cancer pain in patients with and without opioid use disorder (OUD), based on the findings of this systematic review and meta-analysis, (2) Analyze the differences in effect size, heterogeneity, and quality of evidence for buprenorphine’s pain-reducing effects in chronic pain patients with OUD versus those without OUD, (3) Identify key limitations of the current evidence base regarding buprenorphine use for chronic pain and explain how these limitations impact clinical decision-making in PM&R and pain medicine practice (Lazaridou et. al., 2020); (4) Identify benefits and risks of utilizing Duloxetine on patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain, (5) Analyze quality of literature or research design in determining efficacy of Duloxetine use (MA, et. al., 2023).
