OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) define progressive pulmonary fibrosis, restrictive ventilatory dysfunction, and hypoxemia with regards to Interstitial lung disease (ILD), (2) explain the clinical benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation with different characteristics in ILD patients, (3) analyze the benefits of combinational effects of endurance, resistance training combined with respiratory training within the ILD population compared to other protocols (Chen et al., 2025); (4) identify optimal pulmonary rehabilitation program components, (5) discuss the best timing of pulmonary rehabilitation initiation, (6) discuss the differences in initiating pulmonary rehabilitation in patients with stable COPD vs acute exacerbation (Chen et al., 2025).
