OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Recognize and screen for common perinatal mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and psychotic illnesses, using practical tools applicable in clinical settings. (2) Apply risk–benefit principles in the management of psychiatric conditions during pregnancy, including when to continue, initiate, or modify psychotropic medications. (3) Identify barriers to mental health care and utilize appropriate referral pathways and collaborative care models to improve access and outcomes for pregnant and postpartum patients.
