OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to: (1) Review the current state of mechanical ventilation technology through taxonomy analysis, including available modalities and ongoing developments. (2) Apply the concept of goal-directed ventilator management to select appropriate modalities that align with clinical objectives. (3) Evaluate existing technological and educational gaps in mechanical ventilation, and propose strategies for enhancement and advancement.
