OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1.  Describe and explain the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and types of Herpes Simplex Virus keratitis.
2.  Identify and analyze the diagnostic approach to a patient with red eye, including the differential diagnosis, with emphasis on distinguishing HSV keratitis from other causes.
3.  Discuss and review the management strategies, complications, and preventive measures for HSV keratitis to reduce visual morbidity.
