OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Discuss how to accurately diagnose pediatric hypertension using the 2017 AAP guidelines, including proper blood pressure measurement technique and interpretation of age-, sex-, and height-adjusted normative values  
2.  Differentiate between primary and secondary hypertension in children and adolescents using clinical features, risk factors, and appropriate diagnostic algorithms
3.  Identify target organ damage associated with pediatric hypertension, including left ventricular hypertrophy and vascular changes Understand utility of echocardiogram and ambulatory blood pressure monitor for HTN evaluation Implement evidence-based treatment strategies, including lifestyle modifications and pharmacologic therapy when indicated. Recognize special populations at increased risk for hypertension requiring enhanced surveillance.
