OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Describe the pharmacology of kratom, including its major alkaloids, receptor mechanisms, and dose-dependent clinical effects.
2. Identify the health risks, toxicities, and potential for dependence associated with kratom and kratom-derived products.
3. Summarize the current regulatory landscape surrounding kratom and apply harm-reduction principles to the clinical management of kratom use disorder.
